Our mission is to provide students with the resources and opportunities to pursue their passions by providing a mutually empowering platform for students and brands to engage with each other. We just graduated from China Accelerator 2013, with brands like Red Bull and Oreo as our customers, and are supported by leading pro bono service providers like Thomson Reuters Foundation.

CBO, Captain of Business Development
The CBO role is perfect for a young, talented advertising professional who’s passionate about students and want to use their talents to create positive impact. You will be leading the charge on all things customer (brands and agencies), including expanding new business, managing customer relationships and developing new ideas for products and pricing. This role is based in Shanghai.

  • Knowledgeable about the advertising industry in and out – the major players, key people, products and practices
  • Connected with everyone in Shanghai, often found partying with advertising and marketing folk
  • A natural salesperson, great at understanding customers’ needs, loves the thrill of the chase and close
  • Entrepreneurial, thrives in an uncertain, fast-paced and competitive environment
  • Creative and customer-driven, keen to test out new ideas with clients to discover and adapt to their needs
  • Keen on metrics, always looking to measure and demonstrate impact

You will be in charge of…
New Business Development – 50%

  • Build, manage and grow our pipeline of brands (customers) and agency partners
  • Design and execute online to offline marketing strategy, with a focus on generating inbound leads
  • Refine and develop product offering and pricing model through personal discussions with brands and agencies
  • Optimize sales process, in collaboration with CTO, to minimize customer acquisition cost
  • Stay updated on and share latest industry trends through social media
  • Actively pursue opportunities to evangelize Launchpilots products with brands and agencies

Customer Success – 30%

  • Develop online-to-offline system for account servicing and customer relationship management, in collaboration with CTO
  • Build, maintain and expand relationships with existing customers
  • Extract insights through customer interactions to inform decisions on new product development

Business Development Leadership – 10%

  • Determine, track and drive quantifiable success metrics for the Business Development team
  • Build and manage a killer team with sales, marketing and accounts servicing expertise

Company Leadership – 10%

  • We’re building an awesome product and company together. The core leadership team (CSO, CTO, CBO) will be spending lots of time working closely together to formulate business strategy, develop product ideas, establish success metrics and building a vibrant company culture.

Your qualifications include…

  • 3+ years experience in the advertising industry, either agency or brand management
  • Track record in B2B sales and/or business development
  • Setting, tracking and delivering business growth goals (e.g. sales targets)
  • Excellent communicator, from formal pitches to marketing emails to everyday coffee meetings
  • Experience drafting and negotiating client contracts
  • Solid client service skills or experience managing internal clients within an organization
  • Experience using collaborative online tools to manage customer relationships
  • Strong connections with brand/agency decision-makers (“I can call 5 of them up right now!”)
  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English

Major bonus points if you have…

  • Managed or serviced youth brands – tell us which ones
  • Launched national marketing campaigns targeting the student/youth market
  • Held a leadership position at a youth or university organization(s) OR
  • Familiar with the customer development model
  • Experience working at a startup
